Materials for X ray attenuation

What is it about?

Development of x ray protective garments based on natural rubber composites embedded with gadolinium oxide as attenuating material.

Why is it important?

Earlier lead containing materials were used for x ray attenuation, but it is highly toxic and does not cover the whole range of x ray energy.
