What is it about?

Supervision by an experience therapist teaches psychiatric residents and other inexperienced clinicians to learn how to do psychotherapy. We recently experienced two unusual circumstances where residents quit supervision, calling it "unsafe." This led us to examine those situations and to think about supervision more broadly, including what constitutes safety; the difference between anxiety and danger; and the need to protect supervised patients as well as residents in supervision.
