What is it about?
This year marks the 15th anniversary of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) being officially organized and delivered in Norway. It's a good time to look back on its growth, successes, challenges, and future. This article gives a summary of ISTDP's history in Norway, its impact on mental health services, research findings, practice reflections, and future plans. Since ISTDP was introduced, it has become well-known and respected in mental health. Training for Norwegian trainers and the establishment of the Norwegian Institute for ISTDP helped expand the program. Aligning the training with post-graduate requirements and getting accreditation from The Norwegian Psychological Association ensured its importance in the mental health field. ISTDP is now widely used in both private and public sectors, becoming a key part of therapy in Norway and offering hope and healing to many. As ISTDP continues to grow, its influence is expected to expand both within Norway and internationally, improving psychotherapy practices globally.
