What is it about?
Interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy, developed to treat major depressive disorder. The aim of this study was to conduct a preliminary investigation of the effects of IPT on depressive symptoms and quality of life among women with depression in Iran.

Why is it important?
In Iran, the prevalence of depression in the general population is significant, and depression is about twice as prevalent among women than among men. However, IPT has never been studied as a treatment for major depressive disorder among Iranian women.
