What is it about?

Motivation deficits are highly prevalent among individuals with SMI and those with a history of homelessness. This study used a randomized controlled trial design to compare an integrated Motivational Interviewing and CBT intervention with treatment as usual to improve motivation deficits, behaviors indicative of motivational change, and work and social functioning among Veterans who were recently housed after chronic homelessness. The results were positive suggesting meaningful change in motivation attitudes and behaviors can be made through structured intervention.
