What is it about?

This manuscript explores the use of a wellness model developed by and for individuals with lived experience in engaging individuals facing mental health, substance use, and trauma-related challenges. We provide an overview of the wellness model, including its development and rationale, followed by a description of how wellness tools based on the model have been effective for individuals experiencing a range of complex challenges. We then highlight how this approach was utilized to engage and support members of a community wellness center facing similar challenges. First-hand experiences of the authors illustrate the personal journey of utilizing the wellness model for recovery and its application in peer support work.
