What is it about?
Each year pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers make tens of millions of dollars of payments to psychiatrists in the United States, potentially causing conflicts of interest when these psychiatrists treat their patients. This study traced the flow of industry money to psychiatrists and found that the top 1% of recipients, around 600 psychiatrists, received nearly 75% of this money. The median psychiatrist received $0 from industry each year.
