What is it about?
We studied experiences of institutional betrayal within inpatient psychiatry. We found that the majority of study participants experienced at least one betrayal event during their most recent psychiatric hospitalization. Patients at for-profit facilities were more likely to experience betrayal, and experiencing betrayal was associated with patient-reported decrease in trust and engagement with post-discharge care.
