What is it about?
There is evidence that household characteristics may influence children’s receipt of psychotropic medication. This paper provides new evidence about how a neighborhood measure of child opportunity is related to receipt of psychotropic polypharmacy and psychotherapy among children with high needs due to psychiatric condition, intellectual and developmental disability, and/or complex medical conditions. Findings indicate that neighborhood Child Opportunity Index, race and ethnicity are significant drivers of interclass psychotropic polypharmacy and psychotherapy.
