What is it about?
Firearms and overdoses account for most suicides among the general population and US veterans, and limiting access to these means can help prevent suicide. By surveying veterans at risk for suicide and clinicians, we found that they considered it acceptable and feasible to provide at-risk veterans with financial incentives to more safely store firearms and medications. Findings provide support for testing the effectiveness of financial incentives to encourage safer storage of lethal means of suicide.
