What is it about?

This study compared breast cancer screening rates for women Medicaid beneficiaries with and without schizophrenia to investigate potential disparities in this routine preventive health care service. Women with schizophrenia had similar screening mammography rates as women without schizophrenia. For women with schizophrenia, having at least 1 medical visit in the past year had the strongest association with receiving screening mammography. Connections to primary care may be a modifiable target for intervention to promote breast cancer screening for women with schizophrenia.
