What is it about?
Federal telehealth regulations prior to covid did not allow reimbursement of any audio visits, or of video visits in metropolitan areas where most African American and Hispanic patients live. They were racially discriminatory. and should be changed.

Why is it important?
Policy changes following recent research are required to enable patients to be treated using telepsychiatry anytime, anywhere, especially patients from diverse racial backgrounds
Perspectives
It has always been very strange that reimbursement is different depending on where patients live. This is not equitable and is an example of past structural racism in healthcare that adversely affects those who are frequently poor, of diverse racial backgrounds and living in major metropolitan areas
