What is it about?
School-based mental health care holds great promise for reaching higher numbers of kids with mental health problems; however, on average, school-based clinicians reported less contact with children's caregivers than community-based clinicians.

Why is it important?
Given the inherent advantages of school-based treatment, integration of mental health services for youths in schools is increasingly supported by funding and policy. The findings of this study suggest, however, that investing in strategies to engage caregivers in such treatment may be worthwhile.
Perspectives
This was my first publication in graduate school and a lot of fun to write. I think it calls attention to perhaps important limitations of school-based mental health care. As calls for school-based care provision increase, we must carefully consider the need for caregiver contact or strategies to promote.
