What is it about?
Caseload and daily volume requirements present challenges or psychiatrists in organized settings. The need for organizational fiscal solvency, the emergence of a need for increased patient access, and current declining workforce have yielded threats to patient care and contributed to clinician dissatisfaction. Using illustrative data gleaned from the American Association of Community Psychiatrists, this paper examines the effects of high clinical demands and recommends steps in reconceptualizing reimbursement guidelines that can satisfy financial realities while also addressing clinical outcomes and the inherent nature of psychiatric practice.
