What is it about?
Employment is recognized as an important outcome contributing to the health and well-being and recovery of people who experience serious mental illnesses. This opinion piece argues for the need to raise the profile of the benefits of a broader range of activity and participation opportunities. It is argued that for this to happen the mental health field requires new guiding models, the development and evaluation of interventions targeted directly to activity and participation outcomes and advocacy for the importance of activities and participation opportunities as a social justice issue.
