What is it about?

Peer specialists are individuals with behavioral health disorders trained to use their experiences to help others with similar disorders in treatment settings. There are often not enough peer specialists to work with all patients who could use their services. This study examined which patient factors would be associated with using more peer specialist services. Patients who had more hope, service use, and mental health symptoms used more peer specialist services. These results could help guide the deployment of often limited peer specialist services.
