What is it about?
Catatonia is a neuropsychiatric disorder that can have overlapping clinical features with the disorder delirium. This study used a large multi-site clinical sample of patients assessed for catatonia and delirium along with clinical electroencephalography. We find that EEG abnormalities are common in individuals with catatonia, but these are difficult to disentangle from abnormalities resulting from co-occurring delirium. Further research is needed to define the role of EEG in the assessment of catatonia and delirium.
