What is it about?

Our aim was to assess the relationship between delirium and minor physical anomalies (MPA), that are markers of neurodevelopmental alterations during gestation or early life, in a sample of geriatric patients. We found that limb and head MPA are associated with delirium, suggesting that early developmental aberrations can affect neurological structures related to consciousness, which reduces the threshold for delirium in later life during inpatient hospitalization.
