Why is it important?
Functional vision loss is difficult to treat and diagnosis. Less is known about what causes it. We are learning to determine what triggers and associations are related to this diagnosis.
Perspectives
As a neuro-ophthalmologist, I see patients with functional vision loss often and I have an passion in easing peoples suffering. I believe there is an underlying reason for this diagnosis and they are different for many patients, but understanding the associations is so very helpful to guide management.
