What is the best treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) when there is a variety of treatments available and variable access to them? This article discusses conceptual guidelines for making treatment decisions regarding PTSD.

PTSD is a debilitating condition that last for many years when untreated. Yet, few people have access to adequate PTSD treatment.

Perspectives

I feel very strongly that people should get the best treatment for PTSD (trauma focused therapies like prolonged exposure or cognitive processing therapy). Yet, in many places there simply are not providers that know these treatments. What then?
