What is it about?
MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy has shown great promise as a novel therapy for PTSD, a condition that is notoriously difficult to treat. The therapy developed to accompany the use of MDMA--Inner-Directed Psychotherapy (IDT)--shows promising efficacy both in combination with MDMA and with inactive placebo. IDT has been standardized sufficiently across treatment arms to mitigate confounding effects, and it can be administered safely. This Viewpoint discusses why this therapy should be preserved in future clinical trials of MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy and studied as a standalone treatment modality.
