What is it about?

Long term treattment of schizophrenia is effective but there are also concerns regarding possible detrimental effects. One concern is that they may cause adaptive brain changes that actually increase the risk of relapse in the long term. The Tiihonen et al. study provides good evidence that when antipsychotic treatment is continuous, by way of long acting injectable formulation, relapse rates actually decrease exponentially over time.
