What is it about?
We studied self-control abilities in a population of individuals with tendencies towards specific problematic usage of the Internet. Participants were assigned to one of three groups based on structured diagnostic interviews. We found that individuals with pathological Internet use show weaker self-control abilities. This is similar to individuals with substance-use disorders, which is relevant for clinical classification and practice.
