What is it about?

Novel treatments for major depressive disorder are needed. We investigated the effectiveness of weak external brain stimulation to reduce depression symptoms. What makes our approach unique is that we tailored the stimulation to each individual's brain activity, creating a personalized, (closed-loop) treatment. After five days of this personalized treatment, we observed significant improvements in both depression symptoms and the overall quality of life for our participants. This research instills hope for more effective and individualized strategies in the treatment of depression.
