Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care in Early Intervention in Psychosis: State of Implementation and Provider Views on Challenges

What is it about?

Trauma is increasingly understood to play an important role in relation to the development of psychosis and to treatment outcomes. However, we lack information on how trauma is perceived and addressed by providers in first episode psychosis services. We surveyed providers and found overall a lack of trauma-related support for clients in first episode psychosis services. We also found that providers are uncertain about how to proceed. We recommend more research and support for services to develop better practice in this area.
