What is it about?
We observed a 25% reduction in all-cause mortality among patients treated in mental health clinics that had implemented a team-based collaborative chronic care model (CCM). Our study included nine U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers across the country.

Why is it important?
Premature mortality among psychiatric patients is estimated to contribute to a life expectancy gap of at least a decade. Our research highlights the potential of the CCM to improve health outcomes and bridge the life expectancy gap between individuals with and without mental health conditions.
