What is it about?

The coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) disrupted typical models of the healthcare delivery system in the United States. The promise of telemedicine to be easily and cheaply utilized is supported by multiple prior publications; however, evidence for how telemedicine impact outcomes for those served is more limited. This study examined changes in patient-level outcomes among children with complex behavioral/emotional needs prior and during the pandemic. We found that during the pandemic, outcomes for children were comparable to pre-pandemic outcomes, therefore clinicians should consider supporting and advocating for the continued use of telehealth for certain subpopulations of their clients.
