Characteristics of Transgender Individuals With Emergency Department Visits and Hospitalizations for Mental Health

What is it about?

Transgender people experience discrimination and marginalization, which results in mental health disparities. This study used health record data to look for any differences in the characteristics of transgender people who presented for a mental health Emergency Department visit or hospitalization compared to cisgender people. Transgender people had different diagnoses and greater measures of marginalization than the comparison groups.
