What is it about?

Computer simulation tested potential changes to patient care in a psychiatric emergency setting to predict the changes most likely to improve patient flow. Adding beds, reducing waits to be hospitalized and adding clinicians revealed the greatest improvement occurred when clinicians were added to the evening shift (4pm-midnight). The ability to simulate changes to one factor at a time allows bespoke analysis of a variety of clinical settings and better tailor resources to match patient needs.
