What is it about?

Recent increases in hate crimes and in publicity surrounding institutional discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, immigration status, religion, gender and sexual orientation have had an impact on the mental health of our patient populations and also on the demands of clinical practice. Mental health practitioners can intervene to stem the sources and consequences of institutional discrimination using emerging approaches such as trauma informed care, cultural safety, cultural humility, narrative humility, collective recovery and structural competency.
