What is it about?

Weather and climate information is highly valued by water resource managers and users in South Australia, but different users focus on different timescales. While forecasters see the challenge as extending the timescale of predictions beyond current weather forecasting to include seasonal and long-term climate forecasting, most users are primarily interested in real-time and short-term forecasts.

Why is it important?

This research and associated projects (see below) were intended to offer insights into the use, usefulness and usability of weather and climate information that could be used to better align the interests of producers and users of such information.

Perspectives

This was a follow-up on work begun in the late 1990s on use of weather and climate information in the USA. It was part of a larger project with colleagues which also included field research in the USA, UK, Kenya, and Belize.
