What is it about?
This study uses TRMM PR and CloudSat CPR satellites to characterize the vertical structure of latent heating of the East Pacific ITCZ and shows that there is a strong seasonal variation with bottom-heavy heating predominant in boreal winter and deeper heating predominant during boreal summer. These results were also compared to the meridional circulation in the East Pacific ITCZ based on reanalyses.
