What is it about?

Increased deposition of connective tissue proteins, so called extracellular matrix proteins, is a major pathological feature in pulmonary arterial hypertension. In this study, we observed that this phenomenon is also observed on the most inner linings of the vessel, the endothelium. The result is a remodelled basement membrane, whose individual components can affect the behavior of endothelial cells.
