What is it about?

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a devastating lung disease of unknown cause. We found that fibroblasts in the lungs of patients with IPF express greater levels of KCNMB1 which promotes increased activity of the large conductance potassium (BK) channel. This is important in promoting myofibroblast differentiation.
