What is it about?

New research on extracellular vesicles which are tiny structures released by all cells which can play a role in lung injury or repair in the setting of severe infection or respiratory failure. This review discusses new developments in the this field of extracellular vesicles with a focus on two major clinical problems that affect critically ill patients with sepsis and acute respiratory distress syndrome.
