A new species of bush cricket (katydid) described from an old sound recording.

What is it about?

Previous research uncovered a recording of the song of a bush-cricket in the genus Horatosphaga that seemed unusual. In this paper we show that the song belonged to a previously undiscovered species.

This paper demonstrates the importance of song in the taxonomy of Buch-crickets, and also of openly-accessible collections of wildlife sound, such as the BioAcoustica project.
