Immunoglobulin-driven Complement Activation Regulates Proinflammatory Remodeling in Pulmonary Hypertension

What is it about?

Pulmonary Hypertension is a life-threatening cardiopulmonary disorder where inflammation and immunity have emerged as critical pathogenic elements. We tested whether activation of the Complement cascade is essential in regulating pro-inflammatory and pro-proliferative processes in initiation of experimental pulmonary hypertension. We establish, as we believe for the first time, immunoglobulin-driven dysregulated complement activation as a critical pathological mechanism regulating initiation of the disease process.
