Bacteriophages Improve Outcomes in Experimental Staphylococcus aureus Ventilator-associated Pneumonia

Antibiotic treatment failure poses a major threat to human health. In the current study, we show using animal model of severe pneumonia, that the application of bacteriophages - viruses that specifically target bacterial cells - is equivalent to therapy with standard of care antibiotics.
