What is it about?

A genetic risk score was recently associated with the risk of developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We found that this genetic risk score was associated with changes in lung structure, as measured on computed tomography (CT) scan. Our results suggest that lung structure, particularly relating to small airways, may be an important mediator of COPD heritability and determinant of personalized COPD risk.
