In the LIPS-A trial, biochemical and immunological markers of vascular monocyte activation were associated with the development of ARDS, including increased circulating levels of the pro-resolving mediator 15-epi-LXA4, total monocytes, intermediate monocytes, and monocyte-platelets aggregates. Subjects at-risk for ARDS demonstrated a trend for decreased ARDS incidence with aspirin.
