What is it about?

This case reports illustrates the potential for a new type of PET/CT scan using Ga-68 DOTATATE to identify patients with diffuse interstitial pulmonary neuroendocrine hyperplasia (DIPNECH). DIPNECH often requires a biopsy for diagnosis as most other tests do not provide information that is specific enough to make the diagnosis. Ga-68 DOTATATE, which binds to a receptor expressed by the small lesions caused by DIPNECH, may be a useful supplemental imaging method for identifying patients with DIPNECH.
