What is it about?

This is the first description of a mediator that can limit neutrophil NET formation. Neutrophil NETS are important for host defense, but are also believed to contribute to autoimmune disease pathology. Knowing how to regulate their formation can help identify therapeutic strategies to induce or inhibit their formation when needed.

Why is it important?

It may offer therapeutic insight into strategies to augment host defense post-transplantation or limit autoimmune disease pathology.

Perspectives

I am very proud of the two graduate students who collaborated on this project that involved both animal modeling and human cell studies.
