What is it about?

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a commonly encountered problem in the intensive care unit and is independently associated with mortality and morbidity. As clinical risk factors cannot entirely explain the development of AKI, genetic factors might contribute to its occurence. In this study we have tried to replicate previously suggested associations between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and AKI development. Unfortunately, we could not confirm the previously published results.
