What is it about?
Individuals exposed to cigarette smoke have different rates of lung function decline over the course of their life. In this study, we used a quantitative method to identify four distinct groups of people who tend to respond to smoke exposure in similar ways. There appears to be a genetic basis for group membership, and patterns of lung abnormality also differ between groups.
