What is it about?
During 2019, the world was faced with unprecedented anxieties and constraints, including limitations to freedom, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the primary risks associated with the pandemic were declining, Ukrainian society experienced a new challenge – a full-scale war.

Why is it important?
The article describes how the full-scale war in Ukraine affects the process of higher education, which Ukrainian students continue to pursue despite numerous threats, including threats to their lives. This is an unprecedented situation in 21st-century Europe. This demonstrates the determination and resilience of Ukrainian students and academic staff.
Perspectives
The article attempts to answer the question of what fears have become part of the experience of the young generation of Ukrainians (students) in the context of these two threats: the COVID-19 pandemic and the full-scale war in Ukraine. The situation of Ukrainian students is unprecedented on a global scale. Knowledge about their struggles in the 21st century should be widely disseminated. The consequences of these experiences will be felt in Ukrainian society for many generations.I hope that my contribution to this issue will help spread awareness of the emotions and experiences of Ukrainian students affected by the war. The world must know what Ukrainians are going through, and Russia must bear responsibility for its unjustified attack on Ukraine.
