What is it about?

The aim of this chapter is to develop the analysis and questioning of the human condition in contemporary society, based on cinematographic works other than science fiction and fantasy films. In particular, the scripts of films released since 2000 that deal with the present day are analyzed.

Why is it important?

The objective is to identify striking elements of contemporary society that add new problem-posing issues to the human experience. Specifically, the globalised and digitalised environment in which we live is developing the human experience towards a posthuman dimension.

Perspectives

In this text, i argue that the developments in science and technology support the idea of Sartre’s philosophy that the given conditions in specific contexts of a social reality shape the human condition, as opposed to the existence of an unchanging human nature.
