Drawing on the story of Rhineland conservator and collector Wolfgang Hahn (1924–1987), the article sheds light on how micro-histories of conservation challenge linear narratives of progress and encourage a broader exploration of conservation’s diverse expressions, both within and beyond the professionally defined field.
