Why is it important?
This contribution represents the first comprehensive and historical analysis of investment protection and investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) in Kosovo. It offers valuable insights into the phenomenology of ISDS disputes and the applicable investment protection standards within the country. By shedding light on these legal and practical dimensions, the chapter serves both to inform prospective investors about the investment landscape in Kosovo and to enrich the academic discourse on contemporary trends and developments in ISDS in the Western Balkans and broader. In doing so, it fills a significant gap in the existing literature and provides a foundational reference for both scholars and practitioners in the field.
Perspectives
This work sets a precedent for future research and policy discussions on the evolving framework of investment protection in emerging jurisdictions.
