What is it about?

The River of Accountability Mechanisms: Then and Now is a reflection when the first international mechanism was set up in 1993. Imagine you find the source of the river and go with the flow to the sea over a 30-year period to the present. I provide views, experiences and reflections including my learnings and my interactions with students from across the world.

Why is it important?

WIth a case study, we understand better the plight of project affected communities in demanding accountability for a sustainable project. We can also shape up how the river can flow better into the sea and serve the needs of disadvantaged communities. What more is needed for a better planet today?

Perspectives

The piece gives us time to consider and reflect how accountability and governance in projects and providers can better serve humanity especially disenfranchised people. Along the way, we also engage with stakeholders to understand and appreciate the importance of giving more space to them in development and sustainability of projects.
