What is it about?
This chapter considers the reputation for one of the printers of Shakespeare's plays during his lifetime. Printer-publisher John Danter has suffered from an awful reception following the work of scholars which framed his printing of Romeo and Juliet as piracy - that is 'printed illegally'. This chapter contextualises Danter's career and considers his options in choosing to print certain texts.
